26. Shawwal 1446

As a mark of respect today's scheduled EGM will be adjourned by the President. The meeting will be reconvened with 7 days notice given in advance.

Please recite Surah al-Fatiha for Marhuma Fatmabai Meghjee and all Marhumeen.

In the name of Allah, the All-Beneficent, the Ever-Merciful

Zakāt al-fiṭrah (The fiṭrah alms tax)

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ

Felicitous is one who purifies oneself. (Qur’an 87:14)

Payment of Zakat al-Fitrah becomes obligatory after sunset on the eve of Eid al-Fitr. The Fitrah should be kept aside and paid on Eid al-Fitr before Eid prayers or before midday for those who cannot say their Eid prayers. It is necessary to have the obligatory intention (Niyyah) for giving Fitrah for God’s pleasure only.

The guidelines are based on the fatawa of our Marja-e-Taqleed Ayatullah Sayed Ali al- Hussaini al-Sistani (r.a.)

We enclose herewith the link below to view the Guidelines on Zakat al-Fitrah prepared by Shaykh Kumail Rajani of Islamic Education of the World Federation.

Re: Statement from the KSIMC of Birmingham

We are appalled and saddened by the scenes that unfolded on Seven Sisters Road by the Finsbury Park mosque in London in the early hours of the morning.

As with the attacks in London and Manchester, we stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters affected by the attack and their families.

Yesterday, many of the victims were returning home from prayers and to their families. In a month where muslims pray for love, peace and coexistence, and just a few hours after our communities got together in honour of an MP who devoted her life to bringing people together, this news is particularly painful.

It serves as a further reminder that terror is indiscriminate and will always work to divide us. Our strength lies in love and unity within our communities, and efforts to undermine this simply strengthen our resolve to grow in our love and unity.

As always, we are thankful to our emergency services who were quick to respond to the scene and handled the incident with bravery.

With Salaams and Du'as

Imam Sadiq ('as) has said:

The Holy Prophet (saw), initially observed the I'tikaaf (spiritual retreat) during the first ten days of the month of Ramadan. Later, he observed it during the middle ten days of the holy month and finally, he observed it during the last 10 days of the month and then continued to do so in the last ten days (for as long as he was alive).

Bihar al-Anwar, vol. 16, pg. 274

This year’s I'tikaaf will be held from Thu 22nd June ( starting fajr) ending Sat 24th Maghrib.

For those between the ages of 16-18, in order to take part, they will have to be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
