19th June 2017 Re: Statement from the KSIMC of Birmingham We are appalled and saddened by the scenes that unfolded on Seven Sisters Road by the Finsbury Park mosque in London in the early hours of the morning. As with the attacks in London and Manchester, we stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters affected by the attack and their families. Yesterday, many of the victims were returning home from prayers and to their families. In a month where muslims pray for love, peace and coexistence, and just a few hours after our communities got together in honour of an MP who devoted her life to bringing people together, this news is particularly painful. It serves as a further reminder that terror is indiscriminate and will always work to divide us. Our strength lies in love and unity within our communities, and efforts to undermine this simply strengthen our resolve to grow in our love and unity. As always, we are thankful to our emergency services who were quick to respond to the scene and handled the incident with bravery. With Salaams and Du'as Gulam Raza Datoo |
