Lecture Summary:
Shaykh Muhammed Reza Tajri will begin Thursday’s discourse by analysing how man often wrongly defines himself by things that are contingent; not essential to his reality. This flawed idea dupes a person into believing that they are defined by what they have, be that in terms of material belongings or non-material identity markers, all the more so with one’s formal religious identity.
This will lead us into discussing the illusory facet of ‘ownership’ itself, citing verses that illustrate the attitude of the pharaoh, in the era of Musa (as).
The heart that finds it easier to soar to Allah, is one that recognises that it does not have any ownership… of anything – material or otherwise. The citing of several aḥādīth here, will facilitate our understanding of what it means to be spiritually ‘poor’, in front of Allah; and how this gives a person complete freedom in complete servitude to the Almighty.
The Jumah Khutbah this Friday 26th August will be delivered by Sheikh Muhammed Reza Tajri.
